2nd Pearl of India - Mother Theresa

Today I am going to write some small articles about the second pearl of the India, who is world famous and also gods greatest gift to earth. I am going to tell you very small notes about her because we dont have words to explain about her, more over we cant explain about her achievements, her personality. So I am trying to say some words which I came to know as per my knowledge, if you find any mistake in this please forgive and correct by posting comments.

Firstly, I will start with her early life.

Early Life (1910 - 1997)

Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu was born on August 26th 1910 in Skopje, now the capital of Macedonia, but it is considered on August 27th 1910, as she was baptized to be her true birthday.

She was the yougest of there children. Her father was Kole and mother Dranafile Bojaxhiu. In a very small age she became a member of a youth group in her local parish called Sodality.

Her father expired when she was about eight years old. After her father's death, her mother raised her as a Roman Catholic.

At the age of 12 she was convinced that she should commit herself to a religious life. She left home at the age of 18 to join the sisters of loreto as a missionary. There she was chosen the name Theresa after Saint Theresa of Lisieux.

Later in 1944 she became the principal of St.Mary's High School, but she was unable to continue the teaching and was sent to Darjeeling for rest and recuperation.

In 1948, sister Theresa left the sisters of Loretto and later she started with a school in the sshems to teach the children of the poor. She also learned the basic medicine and went to homes of the sick to treat them, later some of her former pupils joined her.

In 1950 ther group was established by the church as a Diocesan Congregation of the Calcutta Diouse. It was known as the Missionries of Charity.

Through this association , she dedicated her life to help the poor, the sick particularly those in India.

Awards:

Mother Theresa was recogniesd by the Indian Government and was awarded the Padmashree in 1962. In 1972, Jawaharlal Nehru Award for International understanding and In 1980 India's civilian award, the Bharat Ratna. She won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979 for her work undertaken in the struggle to over come poverty and distress.

Quotes of Mother Theresa:

  • Do not wait for leaders, do it alone, person to person.

  • Even the rich are hungry for love, for being cared for, for being wanted, for having someone to call their own.

  • I know god will not give me anything I cant handle. I just wish that he didnt trust me so much

  • If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other.

  • If you judge people, you have no time to love them.

Declining Health & Death:-

Mother Theresa suffered a heart attack in 1983 and further had heart problems. She resigned her position as head of the Missionaries of Charity.

In 1996, Mother Theresa fell and broke her collar bone and also suffered from malaria and failure of the left heart ventricle. She had heart surgery, but it was clear that her health was declining.

Finally, On Sep 5, 1997 , after finishing her dinner and prayers, her weakened heart gave her back to the God who.
